Writer's Block: Your Threads

What does your favorite "you" outfit consist of?

Blue strappy top and some old ripped jeans that Kitty accidentally dyed pink(ish) with a navy and white halter neck dress over the top. And no shoes. Shoes are evil :)

Warning: Strong Sex ...

... is what it says next to the 18 certificate on the DVD box for The Dreamers. It made me laugh quite a lot. None of that weak sex here!

I know, I know - I'm hat obsessed

So, the Harry Potter AU fic/art hybrid collaboration is coming along nicely. There has been much brainstorming this evening with my partner in crime.

I'm a little stuck with the final two parts of my 7 spells. Really want to get that finished soon and move on with something else.
I'm trying to plan stuff at work at the mo - database admin is very tedious and I find myself staring blankly at my monitors (yes, I have two) for several minutes at a time.

Also, I'm quite proud of hat number two - it's looking good so far:

Yes, this is a strange, pointless rambling post. What of it?

Various Things

1) It said someone had completed the OT3 course on a file at work. I, of course, instantly thought 'one true threesome' rather than 'online testing three'. Because I'm a loser.

2) I have rather elaborate plans for a multimedia HP thing which cannot truly be classified as fic or art as it's a mixture of both and fairly weird. Let's see how long it takes for me to get side-tracked.

3) I'm getting my new glasses next weekend and I'm excited - they're a dark purple, so I'll eb able to dye my hair more interesting shades. Red glasses clash with a lot of colours. And not always in a good way.

4) I'm only on hat number two for Ravelympics and I thought I'd be on hat three by now :( Never mind.

This is hat one for anyone who is interested.

... the kind you find in a second-hand store ...

I really should be in bed by now - I'm on earlies this week and I'm not looking forward to being at work at 7am :( Sucks. On the plus side my Ravelympics hats are going well. Hat number one is totally improvised and going great so far. It's going to be such a cute hat! It's pale blue acrylic in moss stich with a k2,p2 rib edge. Look!

I'm so pleased with it! It's actually the first thing I've improvised. All my other hats are based on a pattern I memorised a while ago. This one is totally my design :)

Spreading the Love

If there are one or more people on your friends list who make your world a better place just because they exist, and who you would not have met (in real life or not) without the Internet, then post this same sentence in your journal.

Forget the prefixes - I'm just sexual

I came out (pun intended) with the above gem when discussing sexuality and gender politics with a long-suffering friend who nearly fell off the chair laughing. I should get T-shirts printed or something.

And here's multi-fandom shipping meme I stole from [info]elledwen

Life and Fiction

I'm having major writer's block at the mo. I've got lots of ideas in my head but they don't seem to be going anywhere. At the moment i've got several Harry Potter ideas, a Dr Who idea and an HP/DW crossover novel-length that is probably never going to happen. I think I'll go back to knitting. It involves the ability to count, not write and I've still got a handle on that.

Also, I've now got a full-time job and don't need to plan activities to entertain my half-sister! I love her very much, but I'm not the most patient person in the world. I find myself telling her all kinds of crap to keep her quiet, so she currently believes that Sonic the Hedgehog is called Spikerson and he's going to visit the Queen.

Hat Pictures!

I believe I promised to post pictures of my growing hat collection - and so I shall! I've knitted seven and I'm about to start on hat number 8. I know I'm a little hat obsessed.

Also, I start work on Monday - I'm temping and it's only a twenty minute walk away which is nice. I'm getting my hair cut tomorrow as well. I was going to go to Pride today, but I had awful period pain so I sat on the sofa and started re-watching season 3 of Buffy. I'd forgotten how funny it is and how they have their own secret language. For  along time it was my favourite - largely because of Willow/Xander angsty good-ness.

and of course I watched the season finale of Dr Who, but I'm not up for discussing that yet. :)

Organising, positivity and planning

So, I've just been through my whole journal and standardised my tags and given things sensible titles. I'm feeling quite pleased with my organisational skills. Next stage: a masterlist of my fanfiction and getting stuck into some writing now that life is calming down a bit.

Today I had yet another interview. Things seem to be going well on that front. Hopefully someone will decide to actually employ me soon. Yay employment! After the interview I decided to make the most of my travelcard. I went to look around the iKnit London shop which was fun. Then I went to the British Museum and felt happy. I like old things. And yarn. And shiny happy circular knitting needles. Then it started to rain so I went home. I like home too. See - I'm like a whole new person - I like things again!

Also, I might have my little sister one day a week for the next coupla weeks. I'll have to think of ways to entertain a four-year-old who is exhaustingl full of questions. Any ideas?

Book Meme

Stolen from [info]heather11483.
The Big Read thinks the average adult has only read six of the top 100 books they've printed below.

1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicise those you intend to read
3) Underline the books you LOVE.
4) Reprint this list in your own LJ so we can try and track down these people who've read 6 and force books upon them.

I've read a respectable 37 - but I'd like to point out that several of those listed are more thna one volume - if you count the books rather than the listed titles I've read at least 50 books, and a fairly large number of plays and poems. :)
